Your Efforts are Not in Vain

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Romans 10:13

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the great equalizer. Everyone, no matter stature or station in life, must come to Christ in the same manner: For it is by gracethrough faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).

 This is truly Good News.

Our verse this week amplifies that Good News, promising that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Think of it, everyone you know—family, friends, co-workers, neighbors—stands this close to salvations door. If only theyll hear the Lords invitation and knock.

As the apostle penned this rich promise, he did so in the context of communicating our responsibility to bear this Gospel message to those around us, asking: How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?

As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news! (Romans 10:14-15).

Make no mistake, you are sent. For Jesus prayed to the Father of His followers, As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world (John 17:18). And you’re sent with this mantle: Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved!

Look around todayYou are not where you are by accident or coincidence. God has you here for a reason, a purpose—to communicate, in word and deed, the saving message of our Lord.

And be encouraged! The promise of todays verse offers great hope and expectationyour efforts are not in vain!

Why not start this week with an inventory? Who in your life have you included in hearing about Gods plan for salvation? Who have you yet to reach? A parent? Spouse? Sibling? Friend? Neighbor? Boss? Co-worker? Associate? Acquaintance? Who?

Next, pray for the opportunity to share your faith today. Pray for one—one person in your path today with whom you can share the love of Christ.

And then, by all means, when you hear a little voice inside say, Mention Jesus, do it.

 My prayer for this week:

Lord, help me be aware of your work in the lives and hearts of people around me today, and in the coming week. I realize I am not here by coincidence. Will you give me someone I can share your love with today? Grant me an opportunity to speak of my faith and testimony, and the courage to actually do it. Thank you for this promise: everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved!
